For my birthday this past winter, I threw a fabulous tea party with lovely friends. I ornately decorated for this party and prepared many tea time bites which I have collected into a recipe book found here. This Self-Made Princess Afternoon Tea Recipe Book included recipe and decoration instructions for tea sandwiches, scones, savories, and sweets—everything you need for an amazing DIY tea party!

I baked and decorated all of the described recipes myself, meticulously drawing flavor inspiration from my own experiences at many tea rooms over the years. The style and designs were heavily influenced by me being a Valentine’s adjacent birthday princess.

I put a ton of thought and effort into the menu, not just the food items but designing a menu using Canva templates and printing it on cardstock. Each guest got two menus, a tea menu with a QR code to a link tree containing this recipe book and a Google photos album to share photos from the party, and a food menu with the dishes for each tea time bite course.

I also included additional fun tea and sweets themed elements like an “Eat Me” amuse-bouche and a corresponding “Drink Me” of a premade iced chai. I also had a pin the cherry on the ice cream cone game along with a Hygge (the Danish concept of comfort and good vibes) party game.

The party was so much fun! And my partner was so helpful and supportive: collecting guests as they arrived, serving hot towel service which I prepared in my Smoko boba tea-themed mini fridge, taking and preparing everyone’s tea orders (the self-proclaimed “footman” for my party). All so I (the birthday girl) could relax and have a fabulous time at my own party. This birthday tea party is such an awesome memory for me, and I am so happy to have kept and organized the recipes I used for future parties and tea-themed events.
