Maison Danel SF Tea Room

This fabulous French tea room features elegant decor and inviting patisserie. They were also able to accommodate vegetarians. The one thing that makes them a 4.5 instead of 5 croissants is all the vegetarian savories were tea sandwiches while the non-vegetarian were savory croissants. I’d have preferred to have at least one savory croissant with veggies in it (such as mushrooms and cheese or even just leafy greens as I’ve had at other brunch spots). Otherwise, Maison Danel was a delicious and magnificent tea room experience.

The Maison Danel tea menu was extensive but not overwhelming, offering a variety of options of flavored teas including some decaf/herbal options. I had a licorice tea which I loved and my friends had a Mount Blanc white tea and a raspberry black tea. The three-tiered classic tea tray was bounteous with sweets. In addition to the tea sandwiches/croissants on the bottom, the tray included in the center a chocolate croissant, a Madeline in a passion fruit glaze, banana bread, a chocolate twist, and an almond pastry served with chocolate ganache, whipped cream, and jam. The patisserie on the top tier included a macaron and a meringue among other dessert offerings.

Overall, I loved Maison Danel and would definitely go back for another fabulous afternoon tea experience! I look forward to trying more of their croissants and patisserie in the future.
