Motherhood Comes in Many Forms

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mother figures out there, including my single mom! For those of us that can’t or choose not to have children of our own, this can be a tough day for us. So I wanted to celebrate some of the many forms motherhood takes beyond the ability to have biological children, including but not limited to:

Pet Mom: Happy Mother’s Day to all the cat and dog moms out there! Including me as cat mom to my tortie cat Esmee.

Friend Group Mom: You know that person who always plans activities and has snacks? Yeah, that’s big mom energy too! Cheers to those of us who show maternal love in our friendships.

Auntie: Although an auntie by definition is not a mother in the given relationship, showing maternal love and affection to kids who are not your own is something to celebrate! Cheers to us aunties, including non-biological aunties to friends’ children.

There are many ways to celebrate motherhood and femininity even in the absence of a conventional family role. Cheers to all the mothers out there, in any form, pouring their love into the kids, pets, friends, family and more that they mother! 💗
