Egg Plantation Brunch

Egg Plantation: πŸ₯πŸ₯πŸ§ˆ(2.5)

Newhall, CA

Egg Plantation has just about every egg dish you can imagine and I was excited to try it. I ordered an artichoke and cheese omelet excited to see how those ingredients could be combined to make a composed dish, but sadly they weren’t. The artichoke was not fresh; it tasted like canned artichoke, soggy and overly salty, destroying the texture of the omelette. The cheese was tossed in and was not mixed well in the overall dish. The omelette came with hash browns which I would have enjoyed except that without any indication on the menu that I was aware of, they threw in little pieces of bacon that looked identical to tiny pieces of overdone hash brown. A vegetarian’s worst nightmare! Meat appearing unexpectedly and unannounced in a seemingly innocuous dish. Sadly I didn’t realize until the food was in my mouth and felt embarrassed disposing of it in a napkin. I also had a biscuit which was pretty good but dry (as a pseudo Southern girl, a biscuit shouldn’t need to be served with butter, all the butter should be inside!). I also had a latte which was ok and I did like that it was served with biscotti (most of the croissants that this restaurant did get were for the biscuit and coffee). I’d be willing to give this place another chance and try a less adventurous omelette (with no hash browns!) but for my first experience there: 2.5/5 croissants.

Disappointing omelette with vegetarian-nightmare hash browns accompanied by mediocre biscuit.

Latte with biscotti, the best part of the brunch experience.
